What Our Customers Say

Real stories from real customers who have transformed their businesses with our solution. We are proud to have a team of happy customers.
David, a retired software project manager, had a 100% arterial occlusion for which he received an arterial stint. When a 2 1/2 inch diameter wound on his right leg with a graft wouldn’t heal, he came to HBOT. After receiving his prescribed HBOT sessions, the wound closed, and he was able to resume his typical activities.

David, 64

Jim had migraine headaches on average every six weeks, each of which lasted three to five days and left him unable to work. He had to lie quietly in a dark room, and even medication at times did not work. His physician prescribed hyperbaric oxygen therapy, saying, “Some patients tell me it helps.” Throughout his hyperbaric treatments, Jim noticed increased energy, but the most surprising benefit was that his erectile insufficiency was completely gone. He said that he felt 20 years younger. He was able to run, and to experience an erection whenever he and his partner wanted.

Jim, 58

Jesus came to Bay Area Hyperbarics concerned because his physician said he would probably need to have a foot amputated because of a diabetic foot wound. After 60 treatments, Jesus' wound was almost completely healed, and his neuropathy went away.

Jesus was at first shy about sharing the side-effect: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy healed his erectile dysfunction, which he had for the previous eight years. His wife felt that she had her younger husband back. They could hike and be active in ways they had not for nearly a decade.

Jesus, 58

Ming, a 33 year old woman, came with a fear of being around people, because she had lost her ability to recognize and remember faces. After treatment with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, she was so excited when she realized that she could remember our faces. It allowed her to feel safe and at ease in her normal day-to-day activities.

Ming, 33

Henry, an 81 year old man, came in to our clinic 8 years after his stroke. He had lost his eyesight in his right eye, which returned during his treatments. Additionally, his grandson had to translate what he was saying for us because his mumbling speech made it difficult to understand him. During HBOT his speech became clear enough so translations were no longer necessary.

Henry, 81

Amelia, a 42 year old woman, had significant problems with her balance while walking. Two years after her stroke she had only been up to her bedroom upstairs once. And that was with someone standing walking next to steady her should she start to fall. So she had not slept in her own bed for two years. She lived and slept only on the main floor of the condo. After Hyperbaric oxygen treatments, she was able to navigate the stairs alone and slept in her own bed every night to her great pleasure and relief.

Amelia, 42

Doug was tall with a batch of thick white hair and a friendly way about him. He drove his old car with fins and had sung in a barbershop quartet. But since his stroke he had trouble getting in and out of his car. He said his balance and walking wasn’t good enough. After treatments he got in and out of his car with ease, said he felt stronger than he had felt for years. He also said his voice was so much better that he had started singing again.

Doug, 81

Marlee was a quick talking, fast moving, slender woman. There was nothing the stroke had affected in her movements that we could see. But, she complained loudly that her brain “just didn’t work right.” After her hyperbaric treatments, she was so pleased with having “gotten her brain back” that she wrote to the local newspaper about us. The newspaper came out and wrote a feature article on Bay Area Hyperbarics, to talk about what an amazing new technology HBOT was!

Marlee, 76

Greg was a PhD psychologist whose clients, all but one, had terminated therapy with him because his slurred speech was just too hard to understand. Our staff had a difficult time understanding him too. When he finished, his speech was easy to understand and 4 clients had already returned to him for therapy.

Daniel came into Bay Area Hyperbarics barely able to walk due to an injured knee sustained during a bout. After just two hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions, Daniel was able to run five miles the next day. He uses hyperbaric oxygen not only to relieve pain and heal faster, but also to supercharge his workouts just prior to his big fights. HBOT pressed the fast forward button on healing for Daniel Cormier.

Daniel Cormier, 40

Brandi Chastain, the hero of the Olympic gold-medal-winning USA women’s soccer team experienced such persistent pain in her knee that she woke up each night in pain. She had 4 previous knee surgeries. For the past five years, she was unable to sleep through the night. When she later became a coach, she needed to run all day, but her knee would balloon up like a ball. After several treatments with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, she experiences almost no inflammation. In short, her knee healed. She no longer wakes up at night from pain, and she runs all day without a problem.

Brandi Chastain, 51

Dan Skuta, former Linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, saw a 50% decrease in his foot pain after only one treatment, enabling him to play in the next game. This said, Dan’s big win was that after multiple treatments, his plantar fasciitis healed, so he could run without pain. This propelled his career forward, and he credits Bay Area Hyperbarics for his success.

Dan Skuta, 33

Dan Skuda, prior NFL player for the 49ers, developed plantar fascitis, a very painful condition causes pain on the bottom of the foot with walking and running. He needed two shots in each foot prior to each game to reduce the pain so he could run. He came to us hoping we could help him out. After his hyperbaric oxygen therapy, he finished the season without shots, without pain and performed better than he had the whole previous season. He is so convinced that it improves his performance that he has installed a hyperbaric chamber in his home in Florida.

Dan Skuda, 33

Daniel Cormier, an Olympic champion wrestler and UFC champion (he holds two titles: light heavyweight and heavyweight champion fighter) used our hyperbaric treatments a week before his big fights, (see his video here) He said it gave him an edge, an advantage. Daniel also came in hobbling one day after having injured his knee while training. After one HBOT treatment, Daniel was able to drive his car again. He also resumed running 5 miles per day, starting the very next day. Although professional athletes often do not like to give away their secrets to prevent their competition from gaining a similar advantage, Daniel is a warm hearted and caring man.

Anthony broke his back rock climbing at the age of 19. When we met him he had been using a walker, dragging his left foot and his back was so injured and bent over that he could not look up into the trees or the sky. He tried many different treatments trying to straighten his back and regain better use of his foot which he said had little effect. His brother chided him for wasting his money trying to improve his body. Twenty-one years after his accident, he received treatments in our hyperbaric chambers. Afterward, Anthony could walk must faster and with much greater ease. At times, he could let go of his walker and walk, because he was able to lift his foot instead of dragging it. And to his delight, Anthony showed everyone who would watch that he could straighten his back to look up and see the sky for the first time in 21 years! He was joyful and a number of us cried in happiness when he showed us how far his recovery had come.

Anthony, 42

The world watched as Brandi Chastain kicked the winning goal for the FIFA Soccer World Cup in 1999, and when she helped her team to win two Olympic Gold medals. Unfortunately, those years of success included numerous injuries, along with several knee surgeries to resolve her knee pain. Even after surgery and other adjunctive therapies, Brandi still woke up every night with knee pain. This went on for four years. In addition to coping with the pain itself, and a lack of sleep, she had to limit her running and coaching. She experienced such swelling and pain in her knee that she was limping by the end of an active day. She came to Bay Area Hyperbarics and used our hyperbaric oxygen chambers to repair her knee injuries. Now, Brandi sleeps through the night without pain, and her knee no longer swells, causing her to limp after a run. We’ve seen the same with numerous athletes who healed just like Brandi, so they can run longer distances, and do so faster, with less pain or swelling.

Brandi Chastain, 51

George experienced a remarkable and very unusual recovery in our clinic. During his fifth treatment session, he regained his full hearing! In our experience, treating sudden deafness takes time. Even though he regained his hearing, George decided to complete all 20 prescribed sessions to ensure the recovery was permanent.

George, 65

John, was a colorful and lively man, who made his living as a piano tuner. He came into our clinic with sudden deafness and distressed because of course, hearing was critical for his livelihood and he needed to pay his rent. John was able to target the exact day that his hearing returned: After his 16th treatment, his hearing returned sufficiently so that he could return to tuning pianos! He was elated, and decided to continue with all of his prescribed 20 treatments, to regain the remaining of his hearing.

John, 42

Wen was very upset when she lost her hearing in her right ear. She was given steroid injections in her ear by her ENT. Her ENT then sent her on to our clinic for HBOT treatments. She had slow recovery of about half her normal hearing starting at approximately her 10th treatment. Although Wen did not recover all of her hearing when she finished her prescribed treatments, she had recovered quite a bit of her hearing and did not require a hearing aid.

Tomas, 67

John, a piano tuner, came into our clinic with sudden deafness. Of course, hearing was critical for his livelihood (but also for him personally). John was able to target the exact day that his hearing returned. After his 16th treatment, his hearing returned sufficiently that he could return to tuning pianos! He was elated, and decided to continue with all of his prescribed 20treatments, to regain 100% of his hearing.

John, 46

Wen lost her hearing in her right ear. She was given steroid injections in her ear by her Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Doctor, but the steroids did not help. Her ENT then sent her to our clinic for HBOT treatments. Wen recovered approximately half of her normal hearing after approximately her 10th treatment. After having completed her hyperbaric sessions, she had recovered a good deal, but did not experience a total recovery.

Wen, 47

George experienced a miraculous recovery in our clinic. During his first treatment session, he regained his full hearing. Nonetheless, George completed all 20 prescribed sessions, just to ensure the recovery was permanent. Most patients respond more slowly, and some do not notice changes until they are near the end of their treatments. We were deeply happy that George's hearing returned to normal.

Lorraine was about to lose several teeth, because the bones in her jaw were weakened by radiation from cancer treatments.

HBOT strengthened her bones and healed open sores in her mouth that her oral surgeon told her would otherwise not heal. At Bay Area Hyperbarics, we have treated patients for 20 years with radiation damage from treating oral cancers. HBOT has help them return to normal lives. Our patients tell us it also seems to heal their fatigue from “chemo brain” and radiation so they get their energy back. We can help you or your loved one too.

Lorraine, 46

John, who is a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy, came in after having multiple other treatments, some very painful, to stop his bladder from bleeding. Unfortunately, none of the previous treatments helped.

Most patients who come to us to try hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a damaged bladder have already tried other conservative measures, which sadly have resulted in failure. In John’s case, he even had two transfusions. He also passed painful clots from time to time that resulted in his having to make several trips to the ER. He got up frequently at night to urinate and limited his social life as a result. Hyperbarics healed John’s bladder, and the bleeding stopped. He left feeling much more enthusiastic about life.

John, 73

John is a quiet guy with a nice smile who had bladder cancer and radiation therapy 12 years prior to coming in to see us. He had blood in his urine, passed occasional painful clots and had urinary frequency which kept him getting up often at night. After HBOT, the bleeding and passing clots stopped and his frequency resolved.

John, 64

Ginger is a talkative, adventurous librarian who loved her dance classes. She had had radiation for her vaginal cancer. However radiation damage occurred 5 years after her treatment. The damage and pain prevented her from dancing and even wearing pants. HBOT resolved her pain, swelling and discharge. Ginger resumed her dance classes, her relations with her husband and returned full time to work wearing pants. She was such an advocate of HBOT she would talk about us and send strangers she had talked to over to see us even 6 years after we healed her.

Ginger, 48

Josephina, a 61-year-old woman, lived and took care of an elderly friend half the year on the coast of Oregon. She is a quiet spoken, thoughtful woman who had cancer in her mouth 18 years prior to coming in for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The radiation that was used to treat her cancer many years before was very successful. However, she went to her dentist and complained of her tooth feeling loose. The radiation had started to damage the circulation in her mandible and her gums. Her tooth had died and her dentist wanted to remove it. Her dentist also thought that she had two other teeth that were threatened as well. Josephina was sent to an oral surgeon who diagnosed osteoradionecrosis, which is death of the bone due to radiation injury. The blood vessels in the jaw start to die off due to radiation damage. When this happens the bone can get very fragile and sometimes fracture which creates a much bigger problem including a long and difficult recovery. So to avoid this, and prior to taking out her tooth, her surgeon sent her for hyperbaric treatments. The Marx protocol was used which included 20 treatments prior to removing the tooth to revascularize and thus strengthen the jaw. After removing the tooth Deborah returned for the remaining 10 more session to insure the bone heals up properly. In her case, Josephina was fortunate that the bone was strengthened with hyperbarics prior to more teeth dying. Indeed, she was pleased that she did not lose any further teeth. Two years later she came back to visit and say hello. She still had all the rest of her teeth.

Josephina, 61

Howard had very painful open sores in his mouth as a result of cancer treatment. He had already lost a few teeth, and he and his doctor were concerned that he might lose more. But what worried his son even more was that Howard had lost too much weight. Fortunately for Howard, hyperbaric oxygen therapy for radiation damage stabilized two loose teeth and healed his mouth sores. His ability to chew again made him eat enough to return to a healthy weight.

Howard, 74

Fiona, a lively and proud mother of five grown children and an avid gardener, had received radiation many years earlier, which had damaged her bone.

It caused a severe infection in the bones in the roof of her mouth. In addition, Fiona was concerned about her low energy levels. She had tried everything, including antibiotics. When she received HBOT along with antibiotics, it cured the bone infection in her mouth. It healed and regrew her bones and gums. Fiona also said that her energy levels had also returned sufficiently that she could again garden, which she said was fundamental to her sense of well-beingOn some school holidays, she brings one of her children in to the shop. Angelina had a lumpectomy and radiation to her right breast. The difficulty started slowly over the next several years when she had pain on lifting up her right arm. Cancer was ruled out. She was sent to physical therapy. She did her physical therapy exercises daily as they requested but the weakness and pain continued to make working difficult as she repaired items on the machines. I gave her information about hyperbaric medicine and what it had done for my mother. She took it to her physician who approved her for HBOT. The mild swelling and some pain reduced within the first week of treatments. It took 30 treatments to repair the tissues to dispel the pain. A year later she was still working in the shop without pain or range of motion issues.

Fiona, 62

Janice recalled two years earlier having received what she thought was a spider bite, and it was a couple of months later when her symptoms began. She began having severe pain in her muscles and joints, as well as headaches. She also experienced extreme fatigue, which made it almost impossible to continue functioning as a working mom. After 40 HBOT sessions for Lyme disease, her symptoms disappeared, and she returned to working and living a full life with her kids.

Janice, 33

Lisa noticed an area on her arm that looked like a spider bite. It was bright red and had a target-shaped rash. Her doctor recommended a targeted antibiotic and HBOT for Lyme disease. After 40 oxygen chamber therapy sessions, Lisa had no signs of Lyme disease and returned with her boyfriend to hiking.

Lisa, 67

Priya was a mother of two who loved playing with her kids. She was being treated for Fibromyalgia, which hyperbarics helped treat. The nice side-effect was that hyperbaric chamber treatment eliminated her recurrent headaches throughout her treatment and decreased their occurrence for over a year after treatment. What a nice side-effect!

Priya, 38

Jim had migraine headaches on average every six weeks, each of which lasted three to five days and left him unable to work. He had to lie quietly in a dark room, and even medication at times did not work. His physician prescribed hyperbaric oxygen therapy, saying, “it can’t hurt, and some patients tell me it helps.”

During his treatment protocol for migraines and headaches of 60 sessions, he did not have any migraines. Moreover, he did not have any migraines for a full year after having stopped. When we checked back two years later, he had been mostly pain-free for those two years. Contrast this with losing a week of productive living every six weeks before hyperbarics.

Jim, 58

Plagued with Migraine headaches since her early 50’s, Lisa had to take medication on average twice per week to ward off her migraines. Her physician told her that if she did not use her medication, complications, such as blindness, could arise. Often, her migraines required two days to recover, even with medication, during which time they would diminish her ability to focus at work.

After hyperbaric chamber treatment for an early childhood concussion (60 treatments at 2.0 ATA), her migraines virtually ceased. She is now down to two episodes per year instead of two per week and only renews her prescription once per year instead of every two weeks. Lisa points out that nothing changed in her life that could have caused the improvement other than HBO treatment.

Lisa, 67

As a mother of two, Priya loved playing with her kids. She had ongoing migraine headaches as well as Fibromyalgia. Fortunately, hyperbarics helped eliminate the migraine headaches, and healed the nerve pain, fatigue and brain fog that accompanied her fibromyalgia. After treatment, she was again able to play with her kids.

Priya, 38

An articulate 27 year-old woman, Brandi experienced extreme fatigue, generalized nerve pain through her body, and neurocognitive challenges. It took two years for her physicians to diagnose her condition as fibromyalgia. Sadly, her illness became so acute that she could no longer maintain a regular work schedule. As a result, she had to move in with her parents. Fortunately, Brandi found Bay Area Hyperbarics. Though treatments took time to improve her health, she stuck with it. After 40 treatments, her fatigue, her ability to sleep a whole night through, her sensitivity to touch and her ability to concentrate improved significantly. By the time she finished, she was able to return to work, had restarted her social life, and was pursuing a new romantic interest.

Ankur is a software engineer in Silicon Valley with diabetes. Prior to coming to hyperbarics his podiatrist accidentally cut his toe while clipping his right big toe. The toe became swollen and infected, and no matter how much the podiatrist cleaned it and antibiotics did not help. The color of his toe went from red, to purple to a little dot of black on the bottom. When his physicians started to talk about amputation, his vascular surgeon prescribed hyperbarics. He was hobbling with a cane by that time and was quite scared. Hyperbarics stimulated his body to send out new growth factors, new blood vessels grew, and new nerves developed until his toe was healed. When he left us after 52 treatments he was walking without a cane and without pain.

Marian had taught acupuncture for 12 years to students in a prestigious acupuncture school. She loved teaching and was devoted to her students.

One day, a reckless driver rammed Marian’s car so fast it resulted in multiple injuries, including a head injury. She recovered from her other injuries but her head “just wasn’t right.” She came to Bay Area Hyperbarics after 6 months of biofeedback, acupuncture and other therapies. She was depressed and was thinking of early retirement because she said she couldn’t teach students with her sluggish brain. She complained about piles of paper stacked around her house that she couldn’t sort through.

She was also plagued with intense emotional swings. She was so anxious that she would sit in our waiting room and cry while trying to “pull myself together to drive home.” She had become anxious of driving. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy repaired her brain and resolved her emotional volatility, anxiety, depression, and sluggish brain. She said she could think normally again. She returned to full time work teaching her students again.

Jeremy is a high functioning big-data-management engineer in Silicon Valley. He loved surfing, mountain biking, and taking his dog with him.

Jeremy had a history of head injuries from sports, including years of soccer headers, football injuries and mountain biking accidents. Jeremy had come in to Bay Area Hyperbarics during high school when he found he had difficulty keeping up in his AP math classes. He was thinking of dropping out of AP math, but his mother brought him in to us to see if HBOT could help. And, it did! HBOT helped him enough that he stayed in AP math and graduated with honors.

After graduating high school, Jeremy went on to a prestigious university to become an engineer and linguist.

Eleven years after we first saw him, Jeremy brought himself into our clinic for a second time. He was having problems keeping up with the high demands of his job. He said he had to maintain concentration on many variables at the same time while solving complex problems. He feared he was having some days where he just could not perform up to his expectations. He said he needed more focus, better memory and more energy as he also had bouts of fatigue. He was treated using the Haddany study protocol (see the study cited above). Jeremy came back to visit us after finishing his HBOT treatments. He told us he was extremely pleased with his ability to perform now with greater ease, much more quickly, and he finds that answers come to him quicker. He says his energy has improved, not only at work, but also with his mountain biking.

Elliot was active in sports in high school. During football practice, he had a concussion that turned out to be his second. This one was caused when he collided with another players’ head and helmet.

Elliot didn’t recover from this concussion as he had with the first one. After two months, he stopped going to school. Maintaining a regular schedule just became too difficult given his inability to concentrate and his memory loss. Even reading became too difficult because he had blurry vision.

Elliot came to Bay Area Hyperbarics five months after his concussion with these concerns, but also depression, intermittent fatigue, sleep disturbances, and headaches. His parents tried several different therapies, diet changes, supplements and migraine medications. He was supervised by a psychiatrist and on prescription anti-anxiety meds, plus meds for depression. He was also receiving acupuncture.

It took two months of hyperbaric therapy to heal his brain well enough that he could return to school. Honestly, he seemed like a different person when he left our clinic. He was smiling and walked with a healthy gait. However, he did not return to play football, based on a recommendation from his neurologist.

Elliot, 17

Until recently, Shawn held the world record for the largest wave ever ridden. One day, while surfing, Shawn had a major accident on the rocks. He broke his neck in four places and experienced significant traumatic brain injury (TBI). As Shawn said, “I had suffered major brain damage.” His neurologists had no more answers on how to help him return to normal. Shawn affirmed that, “before hyperbaric Oxygen therapy, I was a mess. I wasn’t myself, and was desperate to find a solution to the pain, the headaches, and the brain fatigue.” After only his first hyperbaric head injury treatment, he felt an improvement; the effects were immediate. Shawn said, “I could feel my old self coming back. I was aware that I was going to get better, finally.” In the end, Shawn attributes his full recovery from concussion symptoms to Bay Area Hyperbarics’ comprehensive hyperbaric chamber therapy and medical care. He is surfing once again and continues to ride the big waves.

Christopher was a happy, cheerful, and active boy when he came to Bay Area Hyperbarics. Christopher’s parents had a farm in the Central Valley of California. Unfortunately, Christopher got too close to a tractor one day, which ran over his five toes and crushed them.
After surgery, he healed and ran around just fine. However, when the toes healed, they healed with webbing between them. There was concern that as he grew, the webbing would cause difficulties. So, the surgeon separated the toes, but because of the prior trauma, they would not heal.
In essence, the blood supply was limited, and thus, not enough oxygen was being carried into the toes. Christopher came to us and watched his favorite movies while sitting in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber with his Dad.
His toes healed up just fine. The hyperbaric oxygen treatments grew new microscopic blood vessels, which in turn delivered more oxygen to his toes. Everyone was pleased with the way Christopher’s toes healed up.

Christopher, 5

Tomas, a genial man, had suffered from compartment syndrome and had been in the hospital for three different surgeries on his abdomen. He had a graft that was not healing and not getting the oxygen and the blood supply it needed to heal. His vascular surgeon called Bay Area Hyperbarics to get him in ASAP because it was not healing, and the graft was not thriving. With HBOT, Tomas’s belly healed up completely without any further surgeries– to his great relief!

Tomas, 67

When she first came into our hyperbaric clinic, physicians feared Ania would lose her leg, because of poor perfusion in her damaged tissues. After 10 HBOT sessions, Ania started to feel some intense nerve pain, which meant that was growing new blood vessels and nerves. After 40 treatments, the pain had mostly subsided and she was able to walk with crutches, which surprised her physicians. They thought it would take many more months to heal. Ania was well on her way to complete healing by the time she completed her hyperbaric oxygen sessions,.

Ania, 36

A retired university professor, Linda underwent surgery to remove her gallbladder. Unfortunately, the surgeon accidentally perforated her colon, which caused sepsis and ultimately compartment syndrome. As soon as she was able to leave the hospital, Linda received hyperbaric oxygen therapy every day for almost six weeks. Before HBOT, Linda could not walk and could not eat solid food. After HBOT, she was walking on her own, eating solid food, and even fixing dinner and hiking with her husband! The surgeon said she healed faster than he thought possible, given the grave nature of her condition.

Mary was a grateful, passionate and dedicated nurse who loved playing the piano. Seven years after a double mastectomy and radiation without reconstructive surgery, Mary had a patch of skin on the right side of her chest that kept thinning.

By the time we saw her, the skin had worn away, leaving a weeping patch of underlying tissue. The area was the size of her hand. She kept covered it with gauze and tape. It didn’t hurt but the dripping was annoying and it could get infected which was dangerous not only for her but her patients as well. Also, the patch was continuing to grow bigger as the skin cells continued to die. This was a side effect of the radiation. The skin grew back with 40 treatments. Mary was happily able continue her nursing career.

Mary, 54

Warm & friendly, Joyce had a discolored patch about the size of a silver dollar on her breast. It was pale skin in striking contrast to the rest of her breast which was a beautiful coffee color.

She said the patch was still painful and she was not able to raise her arm above her shoulder. It just hurt too much. Thirty treatments of HBOT and she could swing her arm in every direction even above her head. The discolored painful patch had healed up and disappeared. Her skin was smooth and best of all it felt normal and didn’t hurt.

Walter had spent his life working as a CPA and continued to work until he was 67. Only two years later, he and his wife started noticing that he could not maintain his balance, walk easily up steps, and that his word recall and memory of people and places were decreasing precipitously. After 60 HBOT treatments, Walter said he felt more than 20 years younger. His wife and he agreed that his cognition had returned, and he had grown healthy muscle mass, which is critical in older patients.

Walter, 69

Helen was the mother of a dear friend of Lisa St John, the clinic founder and director, and in her mid-80s, started to decline precipitously. She barely left her bed and had significant cognitive decline. After a series of HBOT anti-aging therapy sessions, she returned to her active lifestyle, where she traveled and hiked for another 15 years. She continued HBOT anti-aging therapy until she was 99 years old and claimed it was her fountain of youth.

Helen, 94

John had compartment syndrome and infections after having received multiple surgeries over 6 months. He also had a failed graft. John’s doctor sent him to HBOT to prepare him for a new graft, which was successful. After applying the new graft, John’s doctor sent him back to HBOT to help the new (threatened) graft heal. In the end, John’s grafts all healed.

John, 72

Amita was an active hiker, but because of gangrene, lost all the toes on her right foot. Unfortunately, the surgical wound from the amputation would not heal, and her doctors were planning to amputate her foot. After a series of HBOT sessions, her wound healed completely. A year later when we checked in with Amita, the wound was still healed.

Amita, 22

Ten years previous to her visit to Bay Area Hyperbarics, Mary Ann had been hit by a drunk driver. Sadly, she was paralyzed below her shoulders, and her source of mobility was an electric wheelchair.
Her problem was that she developed bedsores on her buttocks that would not heal for months. The sores continued to worsen and got infected so badly that she developed a bone infection (called osteomyelitis).
Her husband was worried about her infections and brought her in for HBO treatment for wounds. After treatment, her bone infection and sores healed completely. She and her husband were very pleased.

Mary Ann, 54

Jesus is an active contractor. He also has diabetes. One day, a pallet fell on his foot, causing an open wound that would not heal. After several weeks, much of the wound had closed up, but there was still an area on the top of his foot that was infected and would not heal.

In addition, his foot remained numb, even where the skin had healed. The hyperbaric wound care treatments Jesus received healed the rest of the sore on his foot, but it also healed the numbness!

Arun had ambitions to attend junior college after high school. However, he developed a tumor on the left side of his chest wall, just over his upper ribs. Arun’s physician used radiation to treat the tumor area.

Fortunately, this eliminated the tumor. However, it also resulted in a two-inch long non-healing chest wound where the tumor had been.

Fortunately for him, hyperbaric wound therapy healed his chest and skin, so he could return to finish high school, and move on to junior college!

Mara had severe brain trauma at birth, so at 3 months old, her mom brought her into hyperbaric chamber therapy.
She had a severely misshapen head, a tube in her stomach to feed her, and a tube to help her breathe. Tragically, Mara's mother was told her baby would never recover nor respond like a normal child. She had already returned to the hospital twice for complications with her condition. Mara's mother brought her in 5 days a week for hyperbaric oxygen TBI treatment. When Mara finished hyperbarics, her tubes had been removed. She could breathe on her own, and she was able to eat and swallow food like a normal child. HBOT head injury treatment helped Mara be strong enough to sit up and wave bye-bye when encouraged. The nurse in the Pediatrician's office burst into tears of joy when she saw the improvements in Mara's condition.

Mara, 3 months old

Kevin had suffered several concussions while playing football. Previously a very good student, he found himself unable to attend High School classes. Instead, he lay most days on his bed in his darkened room, depressed, unable to read, talk, or hang out with his friends.

His parents were frantic. Kevin had tried prescription drugs and therapy, which helped some with his systems. However, they did not eliminate the headaches and fatigue or improve his mood. They did not get him up and back to school.

After HBO therapy, Kevin could attend school again and interact with his friends. HBOT head injury treatment made a major impact in recovering Kevin’s cognitive and emotional health and well-being.

Denise is a 43 year old high energy, traveling nurse who volunteers in her church helping women navigate their lives. Talkative and bright, she also manages her husbands' medical issues and takes care of her family. She had breast reconstruction and subsequent surgical wounds. Unfortunately, one of the incisions became infected, painful and slow to heal. Denise was hospitalized and given IV antibiotics. She came to Bay Area Hyperbarics because her physician said she wasn’t healing quickly because the radiation had damaged the tissues. She moved slowly so as not to jostle her shoulder which would cause her more pain. The hyperbaric oxygen sessions healed up her incision and supercharged the antibiotics to kill the infection. Needless to say she is healed and on the road again taking care of others in need.

Angelina is a 43-year-old mother of three and wife who works in the families leather and fabrics repair business. She, her husband and two sisters work out of a shop in our community. On some school holidays, she brings one of her children in to the shop.

Karen is 36 year old stay at home mom of two little girls, and a musician who taught music whenever she could. When she received a cancer diagnosis, as with most young women, her diagnosis was a shock to her and her family. In the end, she had a double mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy. The weakness and fatigue that followed in the wake of her procedures were bad enough, but the pain that arose was almost debilitating. Because of the pain, she had difficulty driving her girls to daycare because she could barely hold onto the steering wheel. She complained that her arms felt like lead and her left shoulder hurt with a shocking intensity every time she turned the steering wheel. She simply cried in pain as she drove. Her physician diagnosed this pain as damage from the radiation treatments, and he sent her to Bay Area Hyperbarics. Karen's hyperbaric oxygen treatments healed her pain, the swelling and the aching. To her additional relief, HBOT also helped diminish the overall body fatigue that otherwise increased as morning progressed to afternoon.

Mary was a grateful, passionate, dedicated nurse who loved playing the piano. Seven years after a double mastectomy and radiation without reconstructive surgery, Mary had a patch of skin on the right side of her chest that kept thinning due to breast tissue damage.

By the time we saw her, the skin had worn away, leaving a weeping patch of underlying tissue. The area was the size of her hand. She kept covering it with gauze and tape. It didn’t hurt, but the dripping was annoying, and it could get infected, which was dangerous for her and her patients. Also, the patch grew bigger as the skin cells continued to die. This was a side effect of the radiation. The skin grew back with 40 treatments. Mary was happily able to continue her nursing career.

Amelia was a lovely and lively 72 year old poet and world traveler. However, radiation treatments from several years past had slowly destroyed the skin tissue and her underlying rib.

She had had two different surgeons try to close the hole that had appeared beside her nipple. The skin was fragile and would not regrow. She had 40 hyperbaric treatments, which regrew the skin and layers of breast tissue underneath

Warm & friendly, Joyce had a discolored patch about the size of a silver dollar on her breast. It was pale skin in striking contrast to the rest of her breast, which was a beautiful coffee color.

She said the patch was still painful, and could not raise her arm above her shoulder. It just hurt too much. Thirty treatments of HBOT, and she could swing her arm in every direction, even above her head. The discolored, painful patch had healed up and disappeared. Her skin was smooth; best of all, it felt normal and didn’t hurt.

Trevor played on his own but simply did not play with other kids. After several hyperbaric chamber sessions for his autism, he picked up a ball, walked it back to his brother, and handed it to him. This was the first interactive play he had exhibited. Previously, Trevor might chase the ball, and he might pick it up. He would, however, never interact with a person. This behavior increased, and after additional HBOT sessions for autism, Trevor continued interacting more often and at a greater level of depth with family and eventually other people

Austin rarely engaged and interacted with people and even more rarely spoke complete sentences! After several hyperbaric chamber sessions for his autism, Austin was able to interact verbally with other people. When he said "Mama, I love you" for the first time ever, his mother was elated, as was our staff. She brought Austin back for several additional treatments. Both his focus and interpersonal skills improved throughout his visits, and he began to interact with hyperbaric technicians during his visits.

Alice did not have the ability to focus or the dexterity to put on her own clothes, until hyperbarics! With Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for Autism, Alice began reading chapter books for the first time in her life. She was able to button her blouses and sweaters for the first time without asking her mom to help. Her progress brought tears to our staff and to Alice's parents.

Sam loved working as a Runner for a contractor, and handling small jobs. It kept him feeling young and engaged. However, his arthritis made his hands look–as he said–like hooks, rather than hands. After two sets of 20 treatments, Sam was able to go back to work and feel like a productive member of society! It gave him his life back.

Sam, 76

Ruth was a retired school teacher, who loved volunteering as a docent at museums. However, her rheumatoid arthritis made simple tasks, such as picking up a piece of paper or writing, extremely painful and difficult. After 40 hyperbaric treatments, Ruth was virtually pain free and actually wept for joy at how she felt thirty years younger and was able to hike and return to her volunteer work!

Jennifer had osteomyelitis of the lower jaw (mandible), which proved difficult to heal. Her teeth were becoming loose, and her doctor thought she would need surgery. However, he prescribed hyperbaric oxygen therapy before the surgery, and after 60 osteomyelitis treatments, her chronic refractory osteomyelitis healed completely, regrowing bone in her mandible. Jennifer was able to keep her teeth, and was able to return to her active lifestyle, hiking regularly with her husband.

Jennifer, 68

Lisa St John, the clinic director for Bay Area Hyperbarics, had chronic refractory osteomyelitis that lasted seven years with no relief. The infection induced severe fatigue and cognitive impairment that prevented her from working and required her to sleep up to 18 hours per day. Finally, a physician recommended hyperbaric oxygen therapy with antibiotics, which after 60 osteomyelitis treatments, healed her. Shortly after being healed, she sold her home to begin her first hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic, which she has owned for 25 years!
